Simon and Garfunkel’s hit, “The Sound of Silence,” is what we hear from the GOP’s Right Wing on many of Trumps tweets and news they don’t agree with. Or in another word… complicity.
With so much disastrous news happening these days, it’s hard to remember all the ways the Trump administration has mishandled world affairs. He capitulates to thugs, thieves and murderers, and all we hear from right wing “mind-numbed” robots is…… nothing. Allowing us to hear the peaceful sounds of crickets.
However today we are reminded of the horrific killing and dismemberment of Washington Post journalist, Jamal Khashoggi. CNN is reporting today that Saudi Arabia issued “final verdicts” today for eight of remaining suspects in the case, sentencing them to 20, 10, and seven years in prison. This after pardoning five “high-level officials who organized and embraced the execution of Jamal Khashoggi” in May.
Their sentences will no doubt be commuted when the world isn’t looking. How does the Republican Party react to this outrage? “The Sound Of Crickets.” Outrageous.
I would hope that the American public would hold those silent voices accountable in November.
